In a matter of months, passengers on American Airlines and Virgin America should be able to surf the Internet from the sky, thanks to new technology from an Itasca company.
AirCell LLC has dramatically expanded its Chicago-area operations, hiring 125 workers, opening a small manufacturing operation and securing private-equity financing for its air-to-ground wireless broadband system, set for installation in the first airplanes by December, said Jack Blumenstein, president and chief executive.
"We're ramping up," he said.

Britney Spears was a no-show Monday for the latest child-custody hearing with ex-husband Kevin Federline. Federline and his attorney, Mark Vincent Kaplan, arrived at the Los Angeles courthouse for the closed session. Kaplan said Sunday that he didn't know if Spears would make an appearance, and he indicated that it would be important for her to be there to take the opportunity to persuade the court to restore visitation. "You can't phone this one in," he said. This was another in a series of missed or late arrivals for legal proceedings by the troubled pop star. On Dec. 12, Spears called in sick for a court-ordered deposition. She arrived nearly two hours late for the rescheduled hearing Jan. 3. Her visitation rights were suspended Jan.

Internet Gambling Deserves a New Chance
I have to stand in line at every corner market for 10 minutes waiting for folks to purchase their lottery tickets, some purchases totaling hundreds of dollars. Horse racing is on TV daily and a major pastime our community. We also have a couple of casinos within 45 minutes to one hour away. The state lottery is advertised daily in newspapers and on TV and radio--talking about how I can become a millionaire instantly. But I will go to jail for playing poker or betting online. What hypocrisy. 3. Either legalize Internet gambling or get rid of state lotteries and Indian casinos. The state lotteries and Indian casinos are causing more problems to society than Internet gambling ever could. .
Israeli PM: All Options Open on Iran
Prime Minister Ehud Olmert warned Monday that all options are open when it comes to keeping Iran from obtaining atomic weapons, his clearest sign yet that Israeli could use force against a nation considered among its most serious threats. Addressing a closed meeting of the parliament's Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee, Olmert was quoted as saying that Israel would not accept an Iran armed with nuclear weapons. Iran has always insisted that its nuclear weapons program is for peaceful purposes, and a recent report by U.S. intelligence agencies concluded that Iran suspended its nuclear weapons program in 2003. However, Israel continues to warn that Iran's goal is to acquire nuclear weapons. Israel considers Iran a serious threat because of suspicions over its nuclear program and its long-range missile capabilities.
