Verio Targets the Midmarket

The company's new on-demand software suite is available online on a monthly basis.

With the introduction of a new suite of products aimed at the midmarket, Verio is continuing its transformation from a generalized Web and application hosting provider to one focusing squarely on companies with fewer than 1,000 users.

The Centennial, Colo.-based company has introduced Verio Business Solutions, a suite of eight stand-alone products companies can buy on a monthly basis, without long-term agreements, licensing fees or upfront investments in infrastructure. Users access these applications, which are hosted by Verio off-site, via the Web.

Applications run the gamut, from SugarCRM Professional for customer relationship management to Accrisoft Business Management and Productivity for customer billing, invoicing, e-mail marketing and membership management.

Oracle 'same old' strategy for post-Siebel CRM

Oracle has unveiled its strategy to deal with the integration of its Siebel business with the CRM operations of JD Edwards, Oracle and PeopleSoft. The key message is "no change".

The company plans to continue with all its current lines of business for the foreseeable future, with the promise of full integration through its Fusion strategy at some point.

At a conference on Tuesday for customers and press in London, Oracle offered few concrete details on future plans for the four existing customer relationship management businesses other than to insist they would continue as they are under the same financial models and the same software.

But the company did say Oracle-Siebel CRM will form "the centrepiece of the next-generation Oracle Fusion CRM applications strategy".

Oracle apps launch, short on glitz, long on reassurance

Oracle's launch of new releases of its five application families was a surprisingly sober affair, designed to restate the vendor's May 2006 pledge to continue to enhance all of the software products.

The event took place Wednesday in the glamorous red and gold Hudson Theatre in the heart of New York's theater district, but there was no burlesque-style entertainment or amusing video skits. Instead, there was a series of straight-up presentations and product demonstrations from Oracle executives outlining the functionalities of the new versions.

Oracle displayed E-Business Suite (EBS) 12.0, PeopleSoft Enterprise 9.0, Siebel CRM 8.0, JD Edwards EnterpriseOne 8.12 and JD Edwards World A9.1. EBS is Oracle's long-time applications suite, while the vendor picked up all the other ERP (enterprise resource planning) and CRM (customer relationship management) software through the acquisitions of PeopleSoft and Siebel.
