Analyst predicts 'virtual marriages' by 2015

Sarner is making his prediction of virtual marriages at various conferences in a PowerPoint presentation describing "Generation Virtual," and its implication on marketing and human relationships.

Sarner predicts companies will spend more money marketing and advertising products and services to virtual "personas" by 2020 than they do in the physical world. He also says at least one city will elect a "virtual anonymous persona" to be its mayor by 2020.

In one quite limited sense, his marriage prediction is already reality. You can get married in Second Life, but it doesn't hold any legal implications in the real world.

Sarner acknowledges that U.S. or state laws would have to be changed if virtual marriages are to be given the same force of law as real marriages.

'Big day' focus of annual fashion show

Sue Thompson, Mercersburg, is getting married on June 28 and said she fell in love with a navy blue dress from J&B Bridals and Tuxedos that was modeled in the fashion show.

Thompson and her friend Karen Blair were very impressed with the exhibitors, saying that they provided essential information, giving good input without being pushy. The ladies enjoyed many aspects of the bridal show, including the atmosphere, models and music.

"It really brightens your spirits and makes you want to have a wedding all over again," Blair said.

Thompson said she has a church and reception hall booked for her wedding, on a $4,000 budget. She and Blair have been friends for over 30 years. They said that the wedding, though priced low, will still be very nice with help from friends and family, who make the day special.

Can SAP digest a large acquisition?

If SAP wants to get deep market penetration in the mid-market then analytics is a good way to go because it combines both transaction necessity with business information requirements. As always, the devil will be in the detail. Kagermann said that the acquisition will lead to a 'slight increase' in customers, indicating that there is significant overlap and that the non-SAP customer opportunity is limited.

On the question of overlap, SAP's past acquisition of Outlooksoft will create some headaches because BusinessObjects has a decent planning engine with which Outlooksoft competes. Whether this pushes SAPs existing relationship with Carthesis for consolidation into the background remains to be seen. These are all part of acquisition practicalities that will not become apparent until after the marriage is consummated.

People with disabilities succeed at the University of Goroka

He effortlessly covers the whiteboard with signs and symbols while his students observe and take notes. When he finishes, he asks them if they have any questions. When they speak, Joel is able to understand what they are saying because he wears a high powered hearing aid and is a skilful lip reader. Joel then clearly explains the mathematics concepts that are causing them difficulty, expertly using the whiteboard to demonstrate what he means.
Despite these successes, the University of Goroka is not complacent. We know we could be doing more. Over the next few years, we will be providing better support for people with disabilities at the university.
We also want to increase the enrolment of these people, particularly women with disabilities.
But, in the words of Chairman Mao, 'Even the longest journey starts with the first step.' The University of Goroka has taken the first step and is steadily advancing towards its goal of becoming an institution that is open to everybody.
